Me!

I live in Hartsville, South Carolina in a small town about 15 minutes away from my school.  My school is located in Darlington, South Carolina right behind the racetrack that is Too Tough To Tame!  Darlington is a very rural and the students zoned for my school are mostly high poverty.

I teach all subjects of 2nd grade at Pate Elementary School.  My school is a Title I school.  My district is currently in the process of trying to roll out 1 to 1 technology, with iPads in the lower grades.  In the 2013-14 school year, I was able to participate in the Pilot program with the iPads. I was successfully able to use an LMS and integrate technology and research more in my classroom.  Unfortunately I switched schools and was not able to take them with me last year.  Luckily, I just received news that I am receiving a classroom set of iPads for the 2015-16 school year.

I am a fully online student at Lesley pursuing my Masters in Educational Technology.  I have two classes left in this program after this semester.

My hobbies include reading, singing, art, and exploring.  I have a loving boyfriend, Everett, and two playful Yorkies, Buddy and Tucker.  I love to travel when I can, even if it is just the beach for the weekend.

  1. Hanna,

I too am a 2nd grade teacher so I think that it will be great to bounce ideas off of each other. I live on a reservation so the poverty is a big issue here as well. I believe that we have taken courses together already. I hope you have a great 8 weeks.

  2. Great to meet you, Hannah. How serendipitous that you were able to receive a new set of ipads after saying goodbye to them. I have to ask, what is a "Title I" school? I teach at an independent school, so I admit, I'm not the most well-versed in public education vernacular.

Beaches....dogs....I was on Cape Cod this weekend, and I'm happy to inform people I've trained our 2 1/2 year old lab/hound mix, Tenny, to do her business in the ocean. It's a game changer!
